The military administrator of the territory of Djugu Maboso Asamba Ladisi interp demands that the CODECO/URDPC militiamen release the sector chief of Walendu Pitsi, and two leaders of the groups kidnapped by these assailants on July 29, 2022 in order to promote the way of peace committed by all the parties for a peaceful cohabitation of all the communities in particular and the whole of its entity.
On the same date, he continued, these thugs ambushed a MAN brand truck which was evacuating nine (9) detainees from the rural commune of Mungwalu to Bunia near the locality of Bambu who were taken hostage to an unknown destination.
However, remarked Colonel Maboso Asamba Ladisi, a lull has been observed lately over his entire entity, notwithstanding a few isolated cases of inter-community provocations which result in killings, looting, theft and extortion on a small scale.
Is the CODECO militia in a process of pacification?
In addition, the coordinator of the Civil Society of Ituri (SOCIT) Dieudonné Lossa expressed the feeling of incomprehension of his organization in relation to the 360° turnaround of the CODECO militia through the kidnapping of these customary authorities.
For him, no one can understand that CODECO, which is in a process of pacification, can afford to kidnap the chiefs before condemning this act and asking these militiamen to release these customary chiefs. And to conclude “The peace process in which they find themselves does not allow them to engage in violence. This is already a form of violence! To deprive the leaders of their mission and their freedom, I believe that is a form of violence”.
