#PoliticoCD. | DRC: The FARDC-UPDF rout the ADF and recover several military effects

As part of the joint military operations called “Shujaa”, the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Ugandan army (UPDF) routed the ADF terrorists after violent clashes in different operational sectors .

At the end of these clashes which took place on Monday, July 4, the Congolese army and the Ugandan army announced that they had recovered several military effects. These include; pistols, ammunition, walkie-talkies, generator, solar panel, voice tracker with a memory card, telephone sets and a FARDC uniform.

In addition to these effects, the Ugandan party that provided this information indicates that the joint forces recovered a Tanzanian EA passport in the name of Monde Kasimu Muhanda in addition to a DRC national identity card belonging to Yuma Malipeka Kibamba. During this same period, informs the same source, a UPDF soldier was killed.

Furthermore, this source confirms that the ADF and ISCAP terrorists still maintain the concentration of their forces in the following areas;

  • Territoire d’Irumu: Tokomeka 1,2 & 3 Idohu, Lawyer Luna, Mugulu-Mugulu, Maitatu, Ido
  • Areas of the Mambasa territory of Biakato, Samboko Makwangu, Khartoum Forest
  • Areas of the Territory of Beni of : Mangina, Mamove
  • Secteur Rwenzori; Biangoro, Lusulube, Djerube
  • Invite Isale Taliha Kabuwabuwa, Rivière Lume-Semuliki Lume Confluence.

“Finally, I wish to reiterate the commitment of the UPDF to continue to work alongside the FARDC to drive these terrorists out of the region and bring lasting peace to the DRC and to the region in general”, specified the brigadier general and Ugandan Defense spokesman Felix Kulayigye.

It is since November 30, 2021 that the Congolese army (FARDC) and the Ugandan army (UPDF) have launched joint operations in the territory of Beni in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) against the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) , an armed group in Uganda but has operated in eastern Congo since the mid-1990s.
