#PoliticoCD. | DRC: Bahati Lukwebo in Kisangani to welcome “Lumumba” this Friday

At the head of a government delegation, the President of the Senate, upper house of the Congolese parliament, Modeste Bahati Lukwebo, set foot on Thursday in Boyome on board a regular flight of Congo Airways flocked in the image of the national hero, Patrice Emery Lumumba.

At the bottom of his plane, Lukwebo was welcomed by the local politico-administrative authorities and several social and political strata of the population, in particular AFDC-A activists.

In front of the press, the president of the senate revealed the purpose of his mission to Kisangani, which is to represent the Congolese head of state, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, at the reception of the relic of Patrice Emery Lumumba.

“We wanted the Congolese people to still remember this great man whose reputation has crossed national borders. And all the Congolese people share this moment, it’s true, painful but also historic, “he said.

On occasion, Bahati Lukwebo called on the population to stand behind the leaders to push them to do their job well and punish them if possible.

Also, he called him to imitate the person of national hero. “Patrice E. Lumumba was a model for everyone and knew how to defend the general interest. As a leader, this must first challenge us”, then underlined Lukwebo.

For his part, the Governor ai of the province of Tshopo, Maurice Abibu Sakapela, who traveled to Bangkoka airport to welcome the government delegation, said, on behalf of Tshopo, honored that this province, through the city of Kisangani, can accommodate the remains of the illustrious character.

In the same perspective, Abibu Sakapela reiterated his call for the mobilization, all over the place, of the population to pay their last respects to the father of independence for his fight for the accession of the country to national sovereignty.

It is appropriate to inform that the city of Kisangani welcomes this Friday the remains of Lumumba, 61 years after his tragic assassination. This Thursday, the scene is already set at the post office esplanade where respectful tributes will be paid to Lumumba.

Kisangani is the city of birth and development
Lumumba’s policy. It was here that he began his professional and political career. It is also in this city that the MNC, its political party had its
boom to the point of plebiscite National deputy with 98,000 votes, we learn.
