The 31-year-old striker, 49 times Cameroonian international but also of German nationality (he had played in the German youth teams), signed a contract until June 20, 2021, the club indicates on its website.
The former Parisian, who is to serve as an understudy for striker Robert Lewandowski, has already played in Germany in Hamburg, Nuremberg, Mainz and Schalke 04.
“His arrival will give our squad, especially in attack, a depth that we are going to need,” said sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic. “Eric has accumulated international experience at Paris SG, he knows the Bundesliga and is coming to the end of his contract. It all suits us very well.”
Bayern were under pressure to recruit before the end of the transfer window on Monday night. Coach Hansi Flick had asked for several reinforcements to compensate for the departures in particular of Coutinho and Perisic in attack and Thiago in midfield.
Before Choupo-Moting, the club had recruited Leroy Sané, the German international winger, who arrived from Manchester City for 45 million, and on Monday the international hopeful Spanish midfielder Marc Roca (Espanyol Barcelona) for 9 million.
